Our specialist translators

Technicis has a global network of over 15,000 translators. They are highly experienced with expert knowledge of the terminology related to their field of speciality and are therefore able to render the technical content of your documents accurately in the target language. Technicis also has around 180 in-house translators and terminology experts. This ensures the best quality for all your professional translation projects. We offer translation services in over 300 languages: European and Scandinavian languages, Central and Eastern European languages, Asian languages and Middle Eastern languages.

Flexible project management to meet your needs

At Technicis, the project manager is an essential link in our service offerings. They work closely with our clients to determine their expectations and requirements. The project manager is an important intermediary, giving our translators all of the essential information to successfully complete the language projects according to the client's specifications. A project manager is assigned to the client's team to look after all the translation needs. They have a precise view at all times of the progress of each project. They have all the information required to offer a top-notch and efficient translation service (using translation memories, specific terminology and drawing on previous projects).

The translation memory, a guarantee of consistency and uniformity

The translation memory (TM) guarantees consistency and uniformity. A TM records previously translated documents for a given client so that they can be used for future translations.  A TM integrates phrases and sentence structures that must always be used in the same way in your company's documents. Translators are given systematic access to these TMs to ensure the consistency and uniformity of your documents. These TMs also reduce the cost of the translation service and increase the consistency of the projects translated, as well as saving time.

Sworn translation

Sworn translation and other legal procedures

In addition to offering sworn translation services, Technicis also handles certification, legalisation and apostille certification for translated documents. Whether you need a sworn translation of a civil status certificate (birth, marriage or death certificate), judicial document (ruling, arbitration decision), notarial deed or administrative decision, Technicis will work with you every step of the way to ensure the completion of your project.

What is a sworn translation?

Unlike a standard translation, a sworn translation is subject to strict legal requirements. A translation is "sworn" when a sworn translator certifies the translation as being true to the original document. This gives the document legal status with local authorities and foreign jurisdictions. Not all translators are authorised to deliver such a translation. In France, such translators are referred to as "expert translators at the Court of Appeal" (or Court of Cassation).

Certification, legalisation and apostille certification

In specific cases and for certain countries, a standard sworn translation is not sufficient to attest its legality. Sometimes, further measures need to be taken:

  • Certification: certifying the authenticity of the sworn translator's signature on the sworn translation. This is generally done by a notary public or a chamber of commerce and industry.
  • Legalisation: certifying the authenticity of the signature, the capacity of the signatory and the identity of the stamp affixed to the translation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy or consulate of the country where the translation will be submitted are authorised to carry out this procedure.
  • Apostille certification: this legalises only the signature of the authority that issued the original document. This procedure is carried out by the Apostilles department at the Court of Appeal within the jurisdiction of the signatory of the document.

Localization to help you internationalise your business

Localization services for websites, software and applications

Localization goes further than simple translation: it involves adapting the content of your website, software or application according to the culture of the target country. This may include units of measurement, currency, payment methods, date formats, addresses or graphics. The tone of the text and certain visual elements such as colours may also come into play. Technicis will analyse each of your localization projects thoroughly before assigning it to a team of specialists.

Localization experts

We handle any type of localization request, including websites, software and applications, no matter the file format (PHP, XML, LaTeX, HTM, HTML, .properties or .po). We extract or isolate the content to be localised and then reintegrate it into the original file without changing the code. We also offer functional, language and look-and-feel testing services, as well as 'OK for print' validation before your localised content is published. Technicis also offers desktop publishing services to ensure the formatting and page layout of your original documents, delivering your localization projects as turnkey solutions.

Performance-based innovation

In addition to human resources, technology is a critical element when it comes to localising your website. Technicis offers you an interface that integrates directly into your content management system (CMS). You can send files directly from your website's back office, contact translators quickly and directly integrate your translated pages into the desired website. We offer an ultra-simple process for maximum performance, a near-zero margin of error and a guaranteed way to save time.

What is editing?

Editing a translation involves comparing the translated text with the corresponding original. It is essential to ensure the quality of every translation and to guarantee the original page layout and formatting. This is why editing translations is an integral part of the language processes followed at Technicis.

bandeau relecture.png

Editing and translation services

Each of our translations is edited by a translator who also specialises in proofreading. Their job is to edit the translation, verify its accuracy to the letter, make sure the client's terminology has been used, correct any typos, punctuation, capitalisation or grammar issues and make the style more fluid if need be. Our internal translation division counts more than 180 translators/proofreaders who work in many different language combinations. To guarantee maximum accuracy, our translators are always specialised in your field.

Professional proofreaders at your service

In order to guarantee the quality of its translations, Technicis uses proven editing processes and the very latest technological tools. Like the translator, the proofreader has access to all the client's instructions and glossaries as well as to the translation memory specific to that client. Editing translations is an exercise that requires a rigorous approach combined with expertise in the field and linguistic and editorial skills. The proofreader has to be able to pick up the slightest typo as well as any error in meaning and instances of bad style or incorrect grammar.

Proofreading: a guarantee of quality

The quality of the language used in your internal and external documentation is essential to the image of your company. That's why Technicis uses experienced professional proofreaders for all of your proofreading and translation requests. This process involves reading over a translated text or a text produced by a writer in order to improve the linguistic quality.

bandeau revision.png

What is proofreading?

Proofreading is revising a translation without comparing it to its source text. This enables the professional proofreader to focus on the fluidity of the text in the target language for a more idiomatic translation.

  • A professional proofreader conducts an in-depth analysis to check terminology and meaning, making sure that the text is consistent and contains no typos or errors related to punctuation, capitalisation or grammar.
  • The proofreader also looks at the style of the text so that it flows more naturally if necessary, and makes it more catchy, concise, elegant or formal depending on your requirements.
Tried and tested translation proofreading

Technicis uses professional proofreaders who are experienced translators, selected based on a series of rigorous tests. Each of your proofreading requests is carefully analysed and assigned to a proofreader who is a native speaker in the target language with substantial writing talent and extensive experience in the subject of your text. We can therefore guarantee that the terminology used is appropriate and that the text is loyal to the meaning of the source text. We handle all files and formats.

Interpreting services

Interpreting, an essential role

Interpreting is a delicate exercise in which there is no room for error: an interpreter must have absolute fluency in the languages involved, excellent communication skills, extreme focus and high accuracy. With its extensive international network of specialised interpreters, Technicis has everything you need in an interpretation service. Whether you're holding a casual or formal event, our teams provide targeted solutions in line with your standards.

Simultaneous interpreting services

At conferences or similar large-scale events that bring together many people of different nationalities, the message conveyed must be understood by all the attendees. Simultaneous interpreting involves the synchronous retransmission by the interpreter of the words of the speaker in a given language, as they are spoken and without interruption. The interpreter, who sits in a soundproof cabin, wears a headset and translates the speech into a microphone as the words are spoken by the speaker. The interpreter's words are transmitted to the listeners via their receiving headsets.

Consecutive interpretation services

Consecutive interpretation involves the interpreter retransmitting the speaker's words to the audience in a given language, often with the aid of notes, once the speaker has finished speaking. This technique, which is more time-consuming than simultaneous interpretation, is generally used for smaller meetings (symposiums, seminars, negotiations, press conferences, etc.).

Whispered interpreting and liaison interpreting

These two types of interpreting are perfectly adapted for more informal events or select committee meetings.

  • Whispered interpreting is a type of simultaneous interpreting in which the interpreter retransmits the speaker's words in a given language in a very low voice (whispering) directly into the ear of the listener. It is particularly suitable for bilateral discussions.
  • Liaison interpreting involves retransmitting the speaker's words phrase by phrase (or based on a question/answer model). This type of interpreting is used especially during trade talks, business trips or dinners, professional meetings, trade fairs, etc.

Technicis DTP services

DTP services and multilingual page layout

With a view to continuously adapting and updating the support we offer our clients, Technicis offers desktop publishing (DTP) services for turnkey delivery of your multilingual documentation in its original format. Translation from one language to another can lead to multiple problems in terms of graphics: distortion of fonts, additional space required if the target language has more characters than the source, languages reading from right to left, management of pictures and images, etc. We can handle any kind of complex media and deliver the exact format in compliance with your graphic charter.

bandeau PAO.png

Strong graphic skills for quality DTP services

Our Technology division has a highly qualified team specialising in DTP software. The graphic skills of the team members allow them to manage any issues relating to your graphic charter: our professional staff are able to reproduce the translated text in the original layout. They retouch, resize and reset certain parameters in your template, modifying the basic rules as little as possible so that the result conforms to the initial document. Your documents will therefore be delivered ready to print!

A proven quality process

The translation of documents created in DTP software involves a specific process, which is different to that used for the translation of documents published in traditional programmes (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). This process has four stages: translation, quality control, validation by the client and 'OK for print' validation. We check the format (cutting, alignment, line feed, line break) as well as the content (spelling, punctuation, consistency with the source text). This additional service is carried out by a linguist who is able to pinpoint any errors in the target text.

Multimedia expertise

Transcription and subtitling services

Transcription is the prerequisite for translating, subtitling, dubbing or voicing-over any audio or video file. It involves transferring the words spoken in an audio or video file onto paper. Technicis can offer you highly specific transcription, subtitling, voice-over and dubbing services.

bandeau translate.png

Transcription services

Before translating or subtitling any audio or video file, we propose transcription services i.e. typing the words spoken in the file. Technicis transcribes your interviews, conferences, meetings, seminars, speeches and more. In order to guarantee the accuracy of our transcriptions, they are always carried out by native speakers who are specialists in your sector. We can take on all file formats. Depending on your needs, you can select a complete transcription or a summary. We also offer on-site transcription services: a translator will attend a meeting or conference during which he or she will take notes and then produce a summary record.

Subtitling services

Subtitling involves translating the content of a video file from one language into another while putting spoken words into written form. Subtitling services differ from traditional translation insofar that there are technical constraints associated with the process. The process is divided into three stages: transcription, spotting (this stage determines the timing for the appearance and disappearance of the subtitle on-screen) and translation. The subtitler must convey the sense and tone of the original spoken words as faithfully as possible while still making it as easy as possible for the reader. Technicis uses specialist subtitlers who can meet all your subtitling needs, whatever the format of your files. We handle your projects from start to finish, and will deliver your videos as turnkey solutions.
